Agartala, Oct 30: On Thursday, Dr. Manik Saha, the Chief Minister of Tripura, announced that he had an extensive conversation with Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the founder of TIPRA Motha, regarding the execution of the Tiprasa Accord. He expressed his contentment with the discussions and confirmed plans for further negotiations in New Delhi.
During a press briefing, Dr. Saha highlighted that the meeting concentrated on various aspects of the accord that was signed in New Delhi, along with the necessary steps for its implementation. Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha was also in attendance during these discussions.
“Initially, we intended to discuss the Tiprasa Accord post-Puja festivities. However, we have now conducted thorough discussions, with our Chief Secretary present,” stated the Chief Minister.
Dr. Saha recalled that the government had previously indicated that the implementation process would commence after Durga Puja, and this recent meeting allowed for a comprehensive discussion on multiple facets of the agreement.
“Our talks were held in a very amicable environment, and we addressed several important points,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister mentioned that additional discussions would take place in New Delhi to determine the next steps for implementing the agreement and addressing the related issues.
Land rights were also a significant topic during the discussions. Dr. Saha emphasized that the government would concentrate on measures that are practically achievable.
“We discussed issues like land rights. I believe he understands that we can only implement what is feasible. There is no ambiguity here – everything decided will be executed,” he affirmed.
Indicating that the meeting also touched on matters beyond the accord, the Chief Minister noted that another round of discussions might occur later in the day, although no conclusive decisions had been made.
“We may conduct further discussions and invite them for talks. Details will be shared with you, but nothing has been finalized yet,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma reiterated that the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord is his top priority, asserting his commitment to advocate for the constitutional rights of the indigenous Tiprasa community, even if he steps back from active politics.
The recent discussions are particularly significant given the ongoing expectations among the indigenous community regarding the execution of the agreement.
The upcoming talks in Delhi are anticipated to focus on finalizing the next steps and addressing any outstanding concerns from the stakeholders.
