Third Quarterly State-Level Joint Co-ordination Committee meeting in Guwahati on Saturday
Guwahati, Nov 8: The third Quarterly State-Level Joint Co-ordination Committee (JCC) meeting, organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), took place in Guwahati on Saturday. Officials from various enforcement agencies convened to discuss strategies aimed at enhancing inter-agency collaboration and dismantling drug trafficking operations.
According to an NCB representative, the meeting emphasized a network-centric strategy to combat emerging narcotics challenges.
"Held at the Police Headquarters in Guwahati, the meeting aimed to bolster inter-agency cooperation and improve collective efforts against new narcotics threats," the NCB official stated on social media.
NCB Deputy Director General for the North Eastern Region, R. Sudhakar, presided over the meeting.
Topics of discussion included the narcotics landscape in Assam, new trafficking routes, operational hurdles, and significant cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The focus was on adopting a network-centric approach to dismantle entire drug trafficking networks, the official noted.
"The effective use of the NIDAN Portal, NATGRID, and inputs related to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) for intelligence gathering and investigations were also discussed. The successes of Operation Trident, a collaborative effort involving the NCB, ED, and Mizoram Police, which saw 38 teams conducting simultaneous searches across three North-eastern states, were highlighted," the statement added.
Participants included officials from the NIA, ED, DRI, BSF, CRPF, SSB, RPF, Customs, Income Tax, SIB, State ANTF, and other agencies, along with Superintendents of Police from 13 sensitive districts in Assam.
During the meeting, the SPs presented district-specific narcotics trends and enforcement challenges, reaffirming the agencies' commitment to intelligence sharing, coordinated enforcement, financial investigations, and dismantling organized drug trafficking networks in Assam, aligning with the vision of a 'Nasha Mukt Bharat'.
Last month, similar discussions on enhancing intelligence sharing, financial investigations, and coordinated enforcement were held during the NCB's third Quarterly State-Level Joint Coordination Committee meeting for Rajasthan in Jaipur.
