Itanagar, Apr 8: The Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, announced on Wednesday that the upgraded Sessa mini hydel station located in the West Kameng district will supply electricity to over 1,500 households.
Mein made this announcement during the inauguration of the enhanced 3x500 kW hydel facility at Sessa.
Originally launched in 1992, the hydel station had been inactive for several years due to outdated infrastructure. However, it has now been revitalized using modern technology.
With an installed capacity of 3x500 kW and improved 33 kV grid connectivity, the plant is set to provide a reliable and efficient power supply to various local areas within the district.
"The modernization features upgraded transmission systems, enhanced voltage stability, and minimized transmission losses, which will ensure higher quality power along with easier operation and maintenance," he stated.
Mein also mentioned that the hydel station is projected to produce approximately 6.1 million units of energy each year, significantly aiding the region's energy needs.
He emphasized that this project demonstrates the state's dedication to increasing hydropower capacity and enhancing living standards in border areas.
"Together, we are progressing towards a brighter, self-sufficient, and energy-secure future," he concluded.
