Ghaziabad (UP), Oct 8: The Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, stated on Thursday that the operational capabilities of the force are advancing positively, ensuring readiness to tackle any challenges.
During the Air Force Day festivities at Hindan air base, Singh highlighted that throughout its 94-year journey, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has transformed into a formidable, network-centric, and multi-domain force, recognized globally for its excellence.
He noted that various global conflicts have underscored the importance of air power in safeguarding national interests.
“Our operational capabilities are progressing in the right direction,” Singh remarked, emphasizing the IAF's commitment to not only meet but exceed expectations.
The Air Chief Marshal reaffirmed the IAF's vigilance and dedication to face any challenges head-on.
He also honored the air warriors who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Reflecting on his time as IAF chief before his retirement on October 31, Singh expressed that it has been “my biggest fortune” and a moment of immense pride.
The government has appointed Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, currently the Vice Chief of the Air Staff, as the 29th Chief of the Air Staff, effective from the afternoon of October 31, 2026, succeeding Singh.
The 94th Air Force Day celebrations included a ceremonial parade and showcased several key combat assets of the IAF.
Senior military officials, including the three service chiefs and former IAF chiefs, attended the event.
Singh made a grand entrance in a vintage car from the 1960s, while three helicopters performed a flypast in ‘Dhwaj’ formation.
The IAF displayed fighter aircraft such as Rafale, Su-30 MKI, and Jaguar on the tarmac, alongside helicopters like LCH Prachand and ALH Dhruv, as well as essential weaponry and air defense systems.
In a show of support, President Droupadi Murmu sent her greetings to IAF personnel on Air Force Day, praising Operation Sindoor for showcasing the courage, precision, and operational readiness of air warriors in protecting the nation.
“Greetings to all air warriors, veterans, and their families on Air Force Day. The Indian Air Force has provided exemplary service to the nation, maintaining high standards of professionalism, discipline, and preparedness,” Murmu stated in a social media message.
Air Force Day is celebrated on October 8 to honor the establishment of the IAF and recognize the service and sacrifices of its air warriors.
