Deadline Approaches for LPG Cylinder Biometric Verification

Today marks the final day for LPG consumers to complete their Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) to continue receiving subsidies. Important Deadline for LPG Users

For millions of consumers using LPG gas cylinders, today, September 30, 2026, marks a crucial date. The deadline for completing the Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) for domestic LPG connections ends today. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, starting from October 1, 2026, it will be mandatory to complete BAA to book subsidized domestic LPG refills.

No Need for Re-Authentication

The government has clarified that consumers who have already completed their BAA do not need to undergo the process again. However, those who have yet to authenticate can book LPG refills at the retail sale price with the applicable subsidy after completing the process.

Why is e-KYC in the Spotlight?

Oil marketing companies are running an Aadhaar-based authentication campaign to link LPG subsidies and connections to actual consumers. This initiative aims to ensure that the benefits of subsidies reach eligible consumers while eliminating duplicate or ineligible connections.

Current Status of BAA Completion

As of September 19, 2026, 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers had completed their BAA, accounting for approximately 89.9% of all active users. This indicates that a significant number of customers have already finished the authentication process.

How to Complete LPG e-KYC via Mobile

Consumers can complete the process from home using their LPG provider's official mobile app. Different apps are available for various companies:

Indane Gas: IndianOil ONE app

Bharatgas: HelloBPCL app

HP Gas: HP PAY app

The government has stated that consumers can complete the authentication process through these mobile apps. Video tutorials related to self e-KYC are also available on the PMUY portal.

Authentication During Delivery

For consumers who have not yet completed e-KYC, there are options beyond just the mobile app. Biometric Aadhaar authentication can also be completed during the delivery of the LPG cylinder with the help of the delivery personnel. Additionally, consumers can visit their LPG distributor's showroom to complete the process.

Consequences of Not Completing e-KYC

From October 1, consumers who have not completed their BAA will not be able to book refills at the subsidized retail sale price until they complete the authentication. However, the government has made it clear that customers who do not wish to undergo BAA or are unable to do so can still receive LPG, but they must register their preference through their OMC's digital channels, and LPG will be provided at the market price without subsidy.

Previous Extensions of the Deadline

Initially, LPG consumers were given until June 30, 2026, to complete their BAA. The deadline was extended multiple times to provide additional time for consumers. According to the government, the deadline was pushed to July 31, August 7, August 15, August 23, August 31, September 7, and then September 14. The new system is set to be implemented from October 1.

What to Do if e-KYC is Already Completed

If you have already completed your biometric Aadhaar authentication, there is no need to undergo e-KYC again. According to the government, such customers will continue to receive LPG refills as before.
