Ahmedabad News: The Customs Department at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI) has uncovered a peculiar smuggling incident. A passenger arriving in Ahmedabad from Japan via Vietnam was found with 61 valuable designer pens.

The estimated worth of these pens ranges between 2.5 to 3 million rupees.

This morning, a male passenger arrived on VietJet flight number VJ 1805 from Ho Chi Minh City and exhibited suspicious behavior. During scanning, Customs officials discovered unusual images in the passenger's luggage, prompting them to stop him for a thorough inspection.

Each pen could cost as much as an ‘iPhone’.

During the search, officials seized 61 premium designer ink pens. Investigations revealed that the passenger had deliberately concealed these items to evade customs duties. The estimated price of each pen is between 40,000 to 50,000 rupees.

The total estimated market value of the seized items is between 2.5 to 3 million rupees. All items have been confiscated under the provisions of the Customs Act of 1962.

However, the exact valuation of these pens has yet to be officially determined, as a chartered accountant will assess their worth. The passenger is currently being interrogated, and further investigations are ongoing.
