Seizure of Hydroponic Marijuana at IGI Airport

New Delhi, July 28 - Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi have confiscated 7.4 kilograms of suspected hydroponic marijuana and apprehended two travelers. This information was disclosed by the authorities on Tuesday.

According to the officials, the investigation revealed that the individuals were attempting to smuggle the narcotic into the country using luggage belonging to another passenger.

Hydroponic marijuana is a type of cannabis cultivated using water and nutrients instead of soil, a method known as hydroponics. An official statement indicated that the seizure occurred when customs officials stopped a traveler arriving from Bangkok on July 27 for inspection.

The statement further noted that during a thorough examination of the luggage, a green substance weighing 7.4 kilograms was discovered, raising suspicions of it being hydroponic marijuana. This revelation led to the identification of the two travelers' involvement in the smuggling attempt, resulting in their detention for further investigation.

Both individuals were arrested under Section 43(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), 1985.
