Fuel Price Update After Elections

As of April 30, following the elections in five states, new fuel prices have been announced. Unfortunately, crude oil prices have surged past $119 per barrel. This morning at 6 AM, major oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil, HPCL, and BPCL, updated their fuel rates. Currently, in Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹94.77 per liter, while diesel costs ₹87.67 per liter. It's noteworthy that retail prices for petrol and diesel have remained unchanged since early April 2022.


Rising Crude Oil Prices

Due to the ongoing Iran-US conflict, crude oil prices continue to hover above $119 per barrel. Before the conflict began, prices were around $70 per barrel. Brent crude is trading above $119 per barrel, while WTI is priced at $106 per barrel.


Government's Stance on Price Increases

The central government has dismissed speculations that fuel prices would rise following the West Bengal assembly elections. They have clarified that there are currently no proposals for such increases. Consequently, there has been no change in oil prices post-elections.


Rumors of Price Hikes

There have been rumors circulating on social media about a government order claiming an increase in petrol and diesel prices by ₹10 and ₹12.50, respectively. However, the PIB fact-check has confirmed that no such order has been issued by the Indian government.
