The renowned Khajjiar picnic area, often referred to as Mini Switzerland, is home to the esteemed Jai Jagdambe Temple. This sacred site draws numerous visitors to Dalhousie and Khajjiar, all seeking the blessings of Goddess Jagdambe. The temple is held in high regard, attracting devotees from various states across India.
As per Advocate Rajendra Pal Gupta, General Secretary of the Jai Jagdambe Temple Committee, a special event has been organized to introduce committee members from different states to the vibrant culture of Himachal Pradesh and the Chamba district.
Event Schedule:
- June 26: Participants will arrive at Pathankot and then travel to Dalhousie. After some sightseeing, a Mata Ji’s Chowki will take place from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Gurudwara Singh Sabha Hall, Dalhousie Cantonment, featuring devotional performances by Rakesh & Party. Dinner (prasadam) and overnight accommodations in Dalhousie will follow.
- June 27: Members will visit the Taleru Boating Point near Dalhousie, followed by a trip to Chamba, where they will savor traditional Chaba Dham at the Iravati Hotel. Later, they will head to the Jai Jagdambe Temple, Khajjiar, for an all-night Jagran and bhajans led by Rakesh & Party. A community feast (bhandara) will be provided for all attendees.
- June 28: A medical camp will be set up at the temple grounds, offering free medications. Eye examinations will be conducted at the Amar Shaheed Lala Jagat Narayan Eye Hospital located within the temple complex. Patients needing surgery will receive treatment at no cost in Pathankot, and those requiring spectacles will be given them for free. Additionally, clothes and essential items will be distributed to those in need.
This initiative showcases the temple committee’s dedication to not only spiritual growth but also to social welfare and community service, merging devotion with humanitarian efforts.
