Criticism of Priyanka Gandhi's Remarks on IIT Madras Director by Jodhpur Agriculture University VC

The Vice Chancellor of Jodhpur Agriculture University, VS Jaitawat, has expressed his disapproval of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's comments regarding V Kamakoti, the Director of IIT Madras, during discussions on the 'Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026'. He stated that such remarks are "unacceptable from any perspective." Kamakoti is a member of the high-level task force established by the government to implement examination reforms. In a conversation with a news media outlet, Jaitawat emphasized that Professor Kamakoti is a renowned expert in his field, having received numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri. Without naming the Congress leader, he suggested that any sarcastic remarks made against a distinguished academic should be retracted.

This kind of comment is unacceptable in any context. Professor V. Kamakoti is a globally recognized computer scientist, serving as the Director of IIT Madras and a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award. His academic career boasts over 150 research papers published in esteemed journals, contributing significantly to the nation's progress through various research projects.

Mocking an academic by labeling them as a 'cow urine expert' in a humorous and sarcastic manner is not acceptable for any academic. No scholar in the country would endorse such remarks. While discussions on cow urine can be held, such comments about academics in Parliament do not contribute to healthy democratic dialogue. I believe those who made these statements should gracefully retract them, showing respect towards the academic community of the nation.
