Morena, June 27: A tragic incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district where a 35-year-old man reportedly murdered his wife and two young sons using an axe before taking his own life by jumping in front of a train, according to police reports on Saturday.

Authorities believe that the incident may have stemmed from ongoing domestic disputes or financial issues, although the precise motive remains unclear.

Initial investigations indicate that the couple had been experiencing conflicts for the past month, but police are exploring all potential factors before drawing any conclusions.

The horrific event occurred late Friday night in Kishanpur village, within the jurisdiction of Basaiya police station. The suspect, identified as Balram Singh Kushwaha, allegedly killed his wife, Ravita Kushwaha (32), along with their two sons, Aarav (8) and Debu (5), inside their home before fleeing to a nearby railway crossing where he reportedly committed suicide.

Reports suggest that Balram first attacked his wife while she was asleep in the courtyard, striking her multiple times with the axe before turning on the children. All three victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The murders went unnoticed throughout the night due to the high boundary wall surrounding the property.

On Saturday morning, neighbors grew concerned when they found the main gate locked from the outside. Upon checking the premises, they discovered the bodies and alerted the police.

After the killings, Balram is said to have gone to the Shikarpur railway crossing and jumped in front of an oncoming train. Railway officials later retrieved his body from the tracks and notified local law enforcement.

Vivek Tomar, the in-charge of Basaiya Police Station, stated that police arrived promptly after receiving the report.

"The bodies were located inside the residence. The crime scene was secured, and evidence was gathered for a thorough investigation," he noted.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Bhadoria mentioned that a forensic team examined the scene and collected necessary evidence.

"We are piecing together the entire sequence of events. Statements from family members, neighbors, and other witnesses are being documented. The exact motive for this crime is still under investigation," he added.

During the initial inquiry, police discovered that Balram had been working as a marble polisher in Bengaluru and had returned to his village about a month prior. Investigators are also looking into claims that he was distressed after viewing a WhatsApp video of his wife dancing at a Bhagwat Katha event.

Reports indicate that the couple had been living apart for some time due to frequent arguments, and Ravita had only returned from her parental home three days before the tragic event.

Authorities emphasized that these findings are preliminary.

"We are considering all possible angles, including domestic issues and personal matters. Further actions will be determined following the post-mortem results, forensic analysis, and completion of the investigation," DSP Bhadoria concluded.
