Lucknow, Aug 6: Reports indicate that Abaan Ahmed, the youngest son of former Samajwadi Party MP Atiq Ahmed, tragically lost his life in a car accident on Thursday.
The incident occurred on the Jhansi-Kanpur national highway in Uttar Pradesh while Abaan was en route to visit his brother, who is currently incarcerated on charges of extortion and other offenses. The vehicle reportedly collided with a highway divider, resulting in significant damage.
Initial investigations point to reckless driving as a likely cause of the accident. Images from the scene reveal the severity of the crash, with the front of the car severely damaged after hitting the divider.
At the time of the accident, Abaan was driving the vehicle, accompanied by four associates. Both Abaan and one of his companions were pronounced dead at the hospital, while three others sustained serious injuries.
The crash occurred as they were heading to meet Abaan's brother, Ali Ahmed, who is serving time in a Jhansi prison.
The accident took place near the Poonch area along the highway. Local authorities responded promptly, transporting the critically injured individuals to a nearby medical facility. Unfortunately, Abaan and one other were declared dead upon arrival, while the remaining three received initial treatment before being referred to Maharani Laxmibai Medical College.
A police team arrived at the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. The bodies of the deceased have been taken for post-mortem examinations.
Authorities believe that speeding and reckless driving contributed significantly to the loss of control that led to this fatal accident.
Abaan Ahmed was the youngest child of Atiq Ahmed, whose elder brother, Ali Ahmed, is currently imprisoned for various offenses, including an extortion case. Ali is also implicated in the February 2023 murder of Umesh Pal, a key witness in the Raju Pal murder case.
In a shocking incident earlier this year, Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were killed by assailants posing as journalists while being escorted for a medical checkup, an event that was broadcast live, leaving the public in disbelief.
