Shocking Sexual Assault Case in Delhi: Sixth-Grade Student Targeted

Disturbing Incident in Sadar Bazaar

New Delhi, September 21: In a deeply troubling incident highlighting the ongoing issue of violence against women and children in the capital, a sixth-grade girl was sexually assaulted inside a shop located in the Sadar Bazaar area. Authorities reported that the young victim was restrained, with her hands and legs bound during the attack.

The minor had stepped out to buy stationery when the assault occurred.

The police were alerted to the situation following a PCR call received on the night of September 16, which detailed the alleged sexual assault by a shopkeeper.

Upon receiving the report, teams from the Sadar Bazaar police station, along with the Assistant Commissioners of Police and the Women Police Station, promptly arrived at the scene to take action.

Initial investigations revealed that the girl had left her home around 11 p.m. to purchase stationery. During her outing, she was reportedly lured into a nearby shop by the suspect, where she was subsequently restrained and assaulted.

Based on the victim's statement, a case was filed at the Women Police Station in the North District, citing relevant legal provisions, including those pertaining to rape, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and wrongful confinement.

The accused, identified as 56-year-old Maqsood, has been arrested and was placed in judicial custody on the same day following legal protocols.

Investigations are ongoing.

This incident follows a recent case involving the gang rape and murder of a teenage girl by four individuals, including three minors, in Delhi. The police reported that the accused abandoned her body in an open area.

Parts of the victim's decomposed remains were later discovered to have been consumed by stray dogs.

The police became aware of this horrific case on September 13 when they found the girl's severely decomposed body near a field along Kushak Road in the Swaroop Nagar area of North Delhi. The condition of the body was so severe that the police initially struggled to ascertain the victim's gender.

Authorities stated that the victim was familiar with her assailants and had been traveling with them in a tempo. During the trip, the group allegedly consumed alcohol before the girl was sexually assaulted and subsequently stabbed to death, after which her body was discarded in the open field.

Following a comprehensive investigation, four individuals linked to the crime, including three juveniles, were apprehended.
