Hyderabad, July 7: In a disturbing event, a woman from Nizamabad district in Telangana is accused of murdering her husband by injecting toilet cleaner into his bloodstream while he was receiving medical care after surviving a previous murder attempt, according to police reports.
Authorities have taken Sandhya into custody, along with her alleged partner Anil and his associate Venkat Sai, for the death of her husband, Dayini Prashanth (35). They reportedly injected a lethal combination of toilet cleaner and crushed sleeping pills into his IV line on June 30.
The police were able to solve the case following a detailed investigation prompted by a complaint from the victim's mother, who expressed doubts regarding the circumstances of his death.
Prashanth had recently returned from working in the Gulf for two years on June 27 and had decided against returning abroad.
Sandhya (32) viewed him as an impediment to her ongoing affair with Anil (35).
As a nurse at a private hospital, Sandhya devised a plan with Anil and Sai to eliminate her husband.
Further investigation revealed that Sandhya had previously attempted to kill Prashanth by pushing him off a terrace, which had failed.
On June 29, Sai visited Prashanth's home and encouraged him to drink heavily. Following this, he took Prashanth to the terrace and pushed him off, following Sandhya's instructions over the phone.
Fortunately, Prashanth survived but sustained serious injuries. The accused allegedly misled him into believing he had fallen due to intoxication and arranged for his admission to a government hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to a private facility and eventually returned home.
Having received nursing training, Sandhya was responsible for administering IV fluids at home. In a premeditated act, she injected a toxic concoction of toilet cleaner and crushed sleeping pills through a cannula. She also pushed him off the cot, which ultimately led to his demise.
Sandhya attempted to attribute her husband's death to his declining health following the fall.
Prashanth's mother, who lives separately, filed a police report expressing her suspicions about the cause of his death. She mentioned that she was unaware of her son's visit home and the events leading up to his death.
The police have presented the three suspects in court, where they have been remanded to judicial custody.
