Dhanbad, Sep 11: Authorities in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district are investigating the shocking discovery of a beheaded female body found in a forest area under the jurisdiction of Baliapur police station on Friday, causing widespread alarm among local residents.

Villagers, upon finding incense sticks and other ritualistic items near the body, have raised concerns that the woman may have been a victim of human sacrifice.

However, police officials have stated that it is premature to jump to conclusions, emphasizing that the true motive behind the murder will only be determined after a thorough investigation and post-mortem examination.

The body was located in a forested area close to Chataniya Bridge, near Madai Than in Dhangi Basti. A local resident, Kishore Kumar Mahto, discovered what appeared to be a human leg while walking in the forest and promptly alerted other villagers, who then found the woman's remains.

Following the villagers' report, a police team from Baliapur swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

According to police reports, the woman's head was found inside a plastic bag, while her torso was located at a different spot in the forest. The presence of ritualistic materials has led to speculation among locals regarding the nature of the crime. Nevertheless, police have urged caution, stating that all potential leads are being explored and that the actual circumstances surrounding the murder will be clarified once the investigation concludes.

ASI Ashok Kumar from Baliapur police station indicated that the deceased is estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, but her identity remains unknown.

Authorities are actively conducting inquiries in nearby villages to identify the victim and locate those responsible for this heinous act.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and further actions will be determined based on the findings and evidence gathered during the investigation.
