Gujarat Police Arrest Fake Doctor in Valsad District

Valsad, Aug 8: Authorities in Gujarat have detained an individual accused of impersonating a doctor and administering allopathic treatments without a valid medical degree. The arrest took place in Valsad district, where police confiscated 31 different types of medications valued at over Rs 53,000.
The suspect, identified as Jaykaran Prajapat, resides near Valveri Phatak in Kaprada taluka and hails from Bhatpurva Samuhi in Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
This operation was initiated following orders to locate individuals practicing medicine unlawfully and to enforce legal measures against them.
"The directives were issued by Inspector General of Police Prem Veer Singh from Surat Division, along with Valsad Superintendent of Police Dr. Yuvrajsinh Jadeja and Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dharampur Division, Dr. Sandeep T.," officials reported.
According to the Kaprada police, Inspector D.N. Vanza was conducting patrols when Assistant Head Constable Ashishbhai Arjunbhai received a tip-off regarding Jaykaran's illegal medical practice.
A police team, along with a medical officer from the Primary Health Centre at Rohiyal Jungle and a pharmacist, executed a raid at a rented property owned by Naranbhai Devrambhai near Valveri Phatak.
During the operation, Jaykaran was discovered treating patients and dispensing allopathic and other medications without any medical qualifications.
Authorities expressed concerns that such practices could jeopardize public health and safety. The raid resulted in the seizure of 31 brands of allopathic medicines worth Rs 53,751.20.
Jaykaran was subsequently taken to the Kaprada police station, where a First Information Report (FIR) was filed under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 30 of the Medical Practitioners Act.
This arrest is part of a broader crackdown on unqualified medical practitioners in Gujarat.
In July, another fake doctor was caught in Dahod for practicing medicine without the necessary credentials.
In June, police apprehended 58-year-old Nitin Dahya Parmar in Anand, who had been treating patients for over 20 years without valid registration from the Gujarat Medical Council.
Earlier in March, Vadodara's Special Operations Group arrested Dhaval Kawad for practicing allopathy without a legitimate medical degree, seizing various medical supplies from his clinic.
These incidents highlight a significant issue in Gujarat, as official reports indicate that between 2021 and 2023, 2,724 complaints regarding bogus doctors were investigated, leading to 169 individuals being identified with fake degrees and 154 FIRs filed.
