Delhi Police Busts Drug Trafficking Ring, Arrests Five Including Foreign Nationals

Major Drug Trafficking Operation Uncovered

New Delhi, August 8 - The Delhi Police have apprehended five individuals, including three foreign nationals, on charges of drug trafficking. Authorities claim to have dismantled an interstate gang operating in the Delhi-NCR region, seizing heroin and MDMA valued at approximately ₹12 crores. This information was disclosed by a police official on Saturday.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Nigerian nationals Morris Okali (52) and Ibegbu Chigozie Samuel (50), Ghanaian national Emmanuel (38), along with Delhi residents Sameer (28) and a woman named Lady (36). The Crime Branch reported that they had been gathering intelligence on drug traffickers when they received a tip-off indicating that Okali would deliver a shipment of heroin and MDMA near a hospital in Shahdara on the night of July 19 and 20. A senior police officer stated, “A trap was laid, and Okali was apprehended while carrying a black shoulder bag.”

Upon searching the bag, police recovered 2.004 kilograms of heroin and 863 grams of MDMA. Following this, a case was registered at the Crime Branch station. During the investigation and Okali's police custody remand, Emmanuel and Samuel were arrested on July 23 based on Okali's identification. Police seized 254 grams of heroin from Samuel and 14 grams of MDMA from Emmanuel.

Additionally, two more suspects, Sameer and Lady, were arrested on July 31. Sameer was caught in Shalimar Garden, Ghaziabad, with 300 grams of heroin, while Lady was apprehended in West Vihar. According to police, the accused were involved in the procurement, storage, transportation, and distribution of heroin and MDMA through an organized network of associates in Delhi-NCR.

Nigerian national Okali arrived in India in 2020 and was residing in Chander Vihar, Nilothi Extension. Police revealed that his Indian visa had expired, and he was living in the country illegally. He had previously been arrested in 2024 under the Foreigners Act at Nihal Vihar police station.

Officials reported that the teams recovered a total of 2.554 kilograms of heroin, 881 grams of MDMA, and 11 mobile phones from the suspects. The estimated value of these drugs in the international market is around ₹12 crores. Investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the gang and dismantle the entire supply network.
