Criminal Arrested After Encounter in Ghaziabad, Linked to Abduction and Murder

In a dramatic police encounter in Ghaziabad, a criminal wanted for several cases was arrested after sustaining gunshot injuries. The suspect, Gaurav Nagar, confessed to the abduction and murder of Omkar Singh, shedding light on a troubling crime spree in the region. With a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, Nagar's capture marks a significant development in ongoing investigations. The police recovered a firearm and ammunition during the arrest, and legal proceedings are currently underway. Criminal Encounter in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad (UP), June 13: A notorious criminal, wanted in over six cases in the Delhi-NCR region and with a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, was apprehended following a police encounter in Ghaziabad. He sustained gunshot wounds to both legs and was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to police reports on Saturday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Siddharth Gautam revealed that the abduction of Omkar Singh from Ganauli village, located in the Loni police station jurisdiction, was reported on May 30. Since then, police have been actively pursuing leads to capture the suspects involved.

On Saturday morning, police received a tip-off regarding the suspect's location. A police team initiated a checking operation near the canal along Banthla-Chirodi Road. They spotted a white car approaching from Banthla towards Chirodi. When officers signaled the vehicle to stop, the driver attempted to evade capture.

The police pursued the fleeing car, which ultimately lost control and crashed into a tree. Seizing the opportunity, the suspect attempted to escape and opened fire on the police. In response, officers returned fire, injuring the suspect in both legs.

The ACP confirmed that the injured suspect was apprehended and subsequently transported to a medical facility for care. The individual was identified as Gaurav Nagar. During questioning, he admitted to his involvement in the abduction and murder of Omkar Singh, revealing that he and his accomplices had disposed of the victim's body in Ganganagar along the Rohta-Meerut Road.

At the time of his arrest, police recovered a pistol and four cartridges from Nagar. The legal process regarding this case is currently ongoing.
