TKR Maintains Key Players

The Trinbago Knight Riders, the reigning champions, have successfully retained their essential Caribbean players for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026. This includes notable names such as Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine, and Akeal Hosein, who were secured through the league's right-to-match mechanism. Hosein notably received the Player-of-the-Match award during the final last season. Additionally, local talents Justin Greaves and wicketkeeper-batter Joshua da Silva have also been retained by the franchise, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Andre Russell Joins Jamaica Kingsmen

In a significant shift during the local player draft, all-rounder Andre Russell has signed with the newly formed Jamaica Kingsmen. He will collaborate with fellow Jamaican Rovman Powell, who has been appointed as the captain, marking a fresh start for the franchise after taking over from the Jamaica Tallawahs. The Kingsmen have also acquired promising 19-year-old left-arm wristspinner Vitel Lawes, who excelled in this year's Under-19 World Cup, finishing as the leading wicket-taker for the West Indies with ten wickets across five matches.

Other Significant Player Transfers

Another noteworthy transfer involved spinner Gudakesh Motie, who moved from the Guyana Amazon Warriors to the Barbados Tridents. Motie had been instrumental in Guyana's recent successes in both the CPL and the Global Super League. The Tridents have also retained opener Brandon King, while the Warriors have brought in left-arm spinner Khary Pierre to fill Motie's position. Guyana has also kept Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Romario Shepherd, and fast bowler Shamar Joseph.

The St Lucia Kings have bolstered their lineup with the return of all-rounders Roston Chase and Matthew Forde, alongside the addition of young batter Jewel Andrew from the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. The Falcons have retained players like Fabian Allen, Jayden Seales, and Amir Jangoo, while also signing explosive opener Evin Lewis after his tenure with the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. The Patriots have maintained their trust in Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, Andre Fletcher, and rising star Alick Athanaze, while also drafting veteran opener Johnson Charles, who holds the record for the most runs in CPL history.
