CPI Extends Support to TVK for Government Formation

Chennai: On Friday, the Communist Party of India (CPI) announced its full support for the actor-politician Vijay's party, TVK, in their efforts to form a government.

After thorough discussions, the Left party resolved to provide an "unconditional letter of support for government formation," as confirmed by party insiders. This letter has been sent to Tamil Nadu's Governor, RV Arlekar.

Currently, the CPI holds two seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly.

This decision by the Left party follows TVK's outreach to its allies, including CPI, CPI(M), and VCK, in a bid to secure their backing for government formation. TVK emerged as the largest party in the recent Assembly elections held on April 23, securing 108 seats but falling short of the majority threshold of 118.
