A shocking incident has emerged from Uttar Pradesh, where a man attacked a widow with acid two years ago after she rejected his marriage proposal. On Monday, the court sentenced the perpetrator to 30 years in prison and imposed a fine of 100,000 rupees. Additionally, the court ordered compensation for the victim under various schemes. The strict sentence was based on the evidence and testimonies presented, with the police playing a crucial role in bringing the case to justice.

Acid Attack in Broad Daylight

The victim, Khushboo, lost her husband in a road accident in January 2022. Following his death, she moved back to her parental home with her child. While on her way to work at around 9:30 AM, a man named Ajay, who was infatuated with her, confronted her and pressured her to marry him. When Khushboo refused, Ajay attempted to grab her, but she managed to walk away. In a fit of rage, he splashed acid on her and fled the scene.

Ongoing Medical Treatment

Ajay was also fined 100,000 rupees, which will be paid to the victim as compensation. The widow's courage and determination were pivotal in bringing the case to this conclusion. She testified in court that Ajay's family had pressured her to settle the matter, threatening her with harm if she did not comply. Despite the intimidation, she stood firm and fought back bravely after the attack, refusing to be swayed by threats.

Justice Served

Ajay, a father of two, was rightfully deemed a criminal for his actions. His attack stemmed from her refusal to marry him, leading him to pour acid over her. Neighbors alerted the police and her father immediately after the incident. Following the establishment of charges, the court found Ajay guilty based on the evidence and witness accounts. The court acknowledged the victim's bravery in enduring her injuries and testifying in court, stating that the lifelong burden of this incident would necessitate a severe punishment for Ajay to fulfill the demands of justice.
