Following his death, she moved back to her parental home in Bidhanu with her child. On the morning of May 4, 2022, while heading to work at a rope factory near Samadhi Pulia, she was confronted by a man named Ajay, who was infatuated with her and pressured her to marry him. When Priyanka rejected his advances, Ajay attempted to grab her, but she refused to listen and tried to walk away. In a fit of rage, Ajay splashed acid on her and fled the scene.

Victim Undergoing Treatment

In this case, Additional District Judge Kanchan Sagar stated that Ajay was also fined 1 lakh rupees, which will be paid to the victim as compensation. He praised the widow's courage and determination in pursuing the case. The victim testified in court that Ajay's family pressured her to settle, threatening her with harm if she did not comply. However, she remained steadfast and fought bravely after the attack, refusing to succumb to pressure or threats.

Convicted Perpetrator Sentenced

Ajay, a father of two, was found guilty of this heinous act. He poured acid on Priyanka after she declined his marriage proposal. Neighbors alerted the police and her father about the incident. The victim received treatment at Ursula and KGMU in Lucknow. The Additional District Government Counsel Omendra Dixit mentioned that charges were framed in court on September 14, 2022.
