Court Proceedings in Red Fort Blast Case

On Wednesday, the Patiala House Court ordered the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take five individuals into custody in connection with the Red Fort blast case. The accused include Dr. Shaheen, Mufti Irfan Ahmed, Jaseer Bilal Wani, Dr. Adil Ahmed, and Muzammil. Previously, a Delhi court had placed Yasir Ahmed Dar under judicial custody for 11 days. The principal district and sessions judge, Anju Bajaj Chandna, remanded Dar to judicial custody until January 16 after he was presented in court. Last December 26, the court had extended Dar's NIA custody by ten days.

The NIA had arrested Dar on December 18, marking him as the ninth suspect in this case. According to the NIA, Dar, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, was closely associated with Umar-un-Nabi, who was the suicide bomber responsible for the explosion outside the Red Fort on November 10. The agency stated that Dar allegedly played a significant role in the conspiracy behind the blast that resulted in the deaths of 15 individuals and left many others injured.

Judicial Custody Extended for Other Accused

The NIA reported that Dar maintained close contact with other accused individuals, including Umar-un-Nabi and Mufti Irfan. In December, a Delhi court had also extended the judicial custody of seven other accused in the Red Fort blast case for an additional 15 days. The court ordered that Dr. Adil Rather, Dr. Muzammil Ganai, Dr. Shaheen Sayed, Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Waqe, Jaseer Bilal Wani, Amir Rashid Ali, and Soyab be remanded to judicial custody for another 15 days.
