Court Issues Warning to Nora Fatehi Over Absence in ₹200 Crore Money Laundering Case
Nora Fatehi Faces Court's Displeasure
New Delhi – The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has expressed strong dissatisfaction regarding Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi's failure to appear in court concerning a ₹200 crore money laundering case linked to conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The actress was summoned to provide her testimony as a witness on Monday, but her absence and the request for exemption filed by her lawyer prompted the court to take a stern stance. Special Judge Gagandeep Singh remarked that the actress's behavior was inappropriate and emphasized that no one should take court proceedings lightly. The court has issued a new summons, mandating her personal appearance on November 6, 2026.
During the hearing, officials from the Delhi Police informed the court that the actress had been served the summons via email and WhatsApp on October 22, yet no satisfactory response was received from her. Conversely, the actress's legal representative contended that they were only informed about the summons on October 29. It is noteworthy that Fatehi has previously been questioned multiple times by investigative agencies in this high-profile case involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is accused of accepting luxury gifts worth over ₹1 crore, including expensive cars. However, in her statements to the agencies, Fatehi has claimed to be a victim in this matter, leading the police to list her as a prosecution witness.
This entire case is connected to an alleged fraud of approximately ₹200 crore involving Aditi Singh, the wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh. Sukesh Chandrashekhar is accused of impersonating a senior official from the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Home Affairs, using spoofing techniques to extort this substantial amount between 2020 and 2021. Following a complaint, the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police registered a case in August 2021, leading to Sukesh's arrest and the filing of a chargesheet against him under the MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act). Actress Jacqueline Fernandez is also named among the main accused in this case.
