Court Dismisses Azam Khan's Pleas in Land Dispute Case
Court Ruling on Azam Khan's Legal Requests
In a notable decision, a special MP-MLA court in Rampur has rejected three petitions submitted by the legal team of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan. These petitions sought to summon witnesses from the prosecution in connection with the 2019 orphanage land dispute cases, as reported by a lawyer on Friday.
The allegations in these cases include the illegal demolition of houses built on Waqf land, as well as theft of buffaloes and goats. These incidents are part of a dozen cases filed against Khan in 2019.
According to District Government Advocate Seema Singh Rana, the trial is currently in the evidence phase for the prosecution. She noted that while the prosecution was presenting its case, Khan's lawyers filed three separate petitions requesting the recall of witnesses who had already been cross-examined. The prosecution objected to this request, leading the court to dismiss all three petitions. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for June 2.
