Concerns Over Donations to Ayodhya Ram Temple
The controversy regarding alleged irregularities in donations for the Ayodhya Ram Temple has intensified. A prominent businessman claims that there is no record of 200 silver bricks donated for the temple. Dr. Raju V. Manwani, Chairman and Managing Director of the Casals Group of Companies, stated that on January 26, 2021, the Sindhi community presented 200 one-kilogram silver bricks to Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, in Ayodhya. According to Manwani, no receipt was issued at the time of the donation. He mentioned that trust officials informed donors that decisions regarding the use of the silver would be made later.
Inquiry into the Use of Donated Silver
Questions Raised About Silver Usage
Manwani expressed that recent media reports about alleged mismanagement of donations have raised concerns. He noted, 'We never questioned where the silver would be used, but recent events have heightened our worries. We want to know if the silver was utilized for the temple, and if so, how.' He added that if the donations meant for the temple were used elsewhere, it could diminish future donors' trust. At the time of donation, the silver was valued between 1.5 to 2 crores, but its current worth has surged to an estimated 6 to 7 crores.
Call for Accountability
Demand for Transparency
Manwani emphasized that donors have the right to inquire about the donations made for religious and public purposes. He welcomed the ongoing investigation into the matter and stated that if any wrongdoing is proven, appropriate action should be taken against those responsible. He asserted that donors have every right to ask where their contributions have gone. If there has been any misuse of trust or authority, those accountable should be held responsible.
