Dispute Over UPSC Rank 301

In Bhojpur, a significant controversy has emerged regarding the UPSC results, particularly surrounding the 301 rank. This issue has sparked a heated debate on various social media platforms between aspirants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The UPSC results were announced on Friday, and while many successful candidates celebrated, one particular rank has become a focal point of contention.

The granddaughter of Brahmeshwar Mukhiya, a prominent figure from Bihar's Ranveer Sena, claimed to have secured the 301 rank in the UPSC 2025 examination. This announcement was widely covered by numerous media outlets, highlighting her achievement. However, shortly after this news broke, another aspirant from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, posted a video on social media asserting that she also holds the 301 rank and accused the Bihar candidate of fabricating her claim for publicity.

Upon investigation, both candidates' admit cards were scrutinized, revealing discrepancies. The admit card of Akanksha Singh, the granddaughter of Mukhiya, showed two different roll numbers. In her video, Akanksha from Ghazipur stated that she appeared for the mains exam on August 2025 under roll number 0856794 and attended the interview on February 4, 2026. She confidently asserted that the result belongs to her, urging verification through the roll number on the UPSC website, dismissing any misinformation circulating in the media.

Akanksha further elaborated that she has completed her MBBS and MS from AIIMS Patna before dedicating herself to UPSC preparation, successfully clearing it in her second attempt.

On the other hand, the aspirant from Ara, who resides in the Khipira village of Bhojpur district, has a background of academic excellence, having scored 80% in her matriculation and 81% in her intermediate science exams. She graduated in English in 2022 with a first-class distinction.

In response to the controversy, the Ara aspirant reiterated her humble beginnings and hard work, stating, "My life has been very simple, and I have achieved this milestone through dedication and limited resources. My father is a farmer, and I have no reason to lie about my rank. I received my information regarding the 301 rank from my admit card." She also mentioned that she had emailed UPSC for clarification but had yet to receive a response, hoping for clarity by Monday.

During her interview, she was asked about a Padma Shri awardee from the arts field, to which she correctly answered Bharat Singh Bharti from Bhojpur, and also shared her favorite cricketer, Virat Kohli.
