Controversy Erupts Over BJP MP's Remarks on Biju Patnaik

The remarks made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey regarding former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik have sparked significant controversy. This issue has not only highlighted divisions within the opposition but has also revealed disagreements within the BJP itself. The controversy ignited when Dubey, in a social media post, compared Biju Patnaik to Jawaharlal Nehru and the CIA. Patra further accused Dubey of labeling Biju Patnaik as a CIA agent, a serious and derogatory claim, and announced his resignation from a parliamentary committee over the matter.

Former Odisha Chief Minister and BJD leader Naveen Patnaik also reacted strongly to the controversy, dismissing Dubey's comments as baseless and suggesting that such a person requires mental health support. He reminded everyone that during the Sino-Indian War, Jawaharlal Nehru had appointed Biju Patnaik to assist with strategic matters in Delhi, underscoring his significant contributions to the nation.

In light of the escalating controversy, Nishikant Dubey clarified that he did not intend to insult Biju Patnaik. He stated that his comments were aimed at questioning the actions of the Nehru-Gandhi family and were made in that context. Dubey asserted that the BJP and Janata Party have always respected Biju Patnaik, especially during times when the Congress allegedly wronged him. He expressed his willingness to clarify his position if anyone felt offended by his remarks.

Biju Patnaik was a leader whose influence extended beyond state boundaries. He played a crucial role in supporting Indonesia's independence movement, participated in significant missions during World War II, and contributed to Odisha's development. His image as a courageous and nationalistic leader is why any comments against him elicit widespread reactions.
