Controversial Video from Bijnor Raises Questions on Law and Order
Bijnor Incident Sparks Outrage
Bijnor News: A troubling video from Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh has emerged, raising serious concerns about law enforcement and the actions of farmer organizations. The footage, which has gone viral on social media, features a district-level official from the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) allegedly plotting to file false rape charges against forest officials to protect timber smugglers.
In the video, BKU's district vice president, Madan Singh Rana, is seen surrounding a team from the forest department with his supporters. He can be heard clearly instructing, "Bring a suitable woman to file a rape case against the forest officials. Only then will they understand and back off." This statement was made while the forest team was attempting to transport a mafia member caught with illegal timber. The forest department has submitted this video as evidence to higher authorities.
Attempt to Free Timber Smuggler
The incident unfolded when the forest department's team intercepted a pickup truck loaded with illegal timber in the Afzalgarh area. Fearing capture, the smugglers discarded the timber near Mirapur Chowk, but the team managed to apprehend the accused, Shamsher and Lakhbir Singh.
As the team was leaving with the suspects, Madan Singh Rana and his supporters arrived at the Rehar Center Chowk. They not only verbally abused the forest officials but also obstructed their duties, forcibly releasing the accused Shamsher. Bijnor's DFO, Jai Singh Kushwaha, condemned this act as brazen misconduct.
Police Action and Accused's Defense
Based on the video evidence, complaints were filed at the Afzalgarh and Rehar police stations. The Circle Officer of Afzalgarh, Alok Singh, confirmed that charges have been filed against timber mafia members Shamsher, Lakhbir Singh, and BKU leader Madan Singh Rana under serious offenses.
In response to the controversy, Madan Singh Rana claimed he was fighting for farmers' rights, arguing that his comments about filing a rape case were merely intended to intimidate the forest officials. However, police have stated that strict legal action will be taken against those who take the law into their own hands and concoct false schemes.
