Pappu Yadav's Controversial Statements on Women in Politics

Independent MP Pappu Yadav from Purnea has ignited a political storm with his contentious remarks regarding women in politics. He asserted that women cannot achieve success in this field without making compromises and accused the system of neglecting their safety and protection. Yadav emphasized that while women are revered as goddesses in India, they are seldom afforded the respect they deserve. He pointed out that 90% of women cannot engage in politics without first entering the rooms of male politicians.

Yadav further commented that discussions about women's dignity in the Lok Sabha often turn into a mockery. He questioned who is responsible for domestic violence, stating that it is politicians who cast a negative gaze on women, both in India and abroad. He lamented that the culture of exploiting women has become deeply entrenched.

The BJP has demanded an apology from Yadav, labeling his statements as shocking. BJP leader Shehzad Poonawala remarked on the absurdity of Yadav's comments, especially during a time when the nation is championing women's empowerment. He criticized Yadav's mindset, highlighting that his assertion implies that 90% of women cannot participate in politics without first visiting a politician's room.

In response to these remarks, the Bihar State Women's Commission has sought clarification from Yadav. The commission issued a statement expressing its concern and questioning why a recommendation for Yadav's membership revocation should not be made to the Lok Sabha Speaker.
