Controversial Marriage Case in Muzaffarnagar Raises Eyebrows
Incident Overview
In Muzaffarnagar, a troubling incident has emerged involving a marriage that has sparked significant controversy. Anukool Kuchhal, who operates the Tarang Music Center, reported that his bride refused to visit a doctor, raising suspicions about her condition. The bride's family has dismissed these allegations as false, while the police are currently investigating the matter.
Allegations of Fraud
Anukool Kuchhal has accused nine individuals, including Sanjay Mittal, the provincial president of the All India Industry Trade Association, of orchestrating a fraudulent marriage. Following a court order, a case has been filed at the New Mandi police station. Mittal has denied the accusations, asserting that he will present his defense in court.
Details of the Case
Kuchhal claims that Mittal conspired to marry him off to the daughter of his driver without any dowry. He alleges that he was pressured into a quick marriage, which was initially a court marriage followed by a social ceremony.
After the wedding, the bride reportedly refused to engage in physical relations and declined to see a doctor despite repeated requests. When taken to a medical facility, she reportedly refused any examination, claiming she was incomplete.
Escalation of the Situation
Eventually, the bride returned to her family home at the urging of her relatives. She later returned with her younger sister and took valuable jewelry worth lakhs from the house, also verbally abusing the family. As tensions escalated, Kuchhal filed a petition in court to annul the marriage registration.
The bride has since filed a case against her in-laws in family court, while Kuchhal has accused her of being a 'Mangalamukhi' (a term implying a woman who brings misfortune). He has also alleged that Mittal and others threatened him while holding him captive.
Police Action
The New Mandi police have registered a case following the court's directive and have initiated an investigation against Mittal, Hari Shankar Sharma, Ganesh, Omkar Kashyap, and five others. Kuchhal had previously submitted complaints to officials, and after no action was taken, he sought the court's intervention. The Circle Officer, Rupali Roy, confirmed that the investigation is underway as per the court's orders. Meanwhile, Mittal continues to assert that the allegations are baseless and plans to defend himself in court.
