Apurva Makhija's Bold Move to the Big Apple

A prominent content creator known as 'Rebel Kid' on social media, Apurva Makhija, has made a significant decision to leave India and move to New York City. She confirmed this transition during a recent podcast, stating on her Instagram stories, "Soo… I don’t live in India anymore."

In the podcast 'Untriggered By AminJaz', Apurva revealed that she would be heading to New York in just two days. By the time the episode aired, she had already arrived in the U.S. She expressed her excitement, saying, "I've traveled a lot, and when I reached New York, I felt that I truly wanted to live here. There’s something about this city. It’s fast-paced, everyone dresses well, the food is amazing, and I love the architecture. I’ve seen New York in almost every one of my favorite web series, so I’ve always wanted to be here."

Apurva further shared that her desire to live in New York was so strong that she applied to only one college. She mentioned that if she got accepted, she would move, and indeed, she was accepted. She will now pursue an MBA and live in a college dorm. Despite having good friends, a nice home, full-time help, and a stable income in Mumbai, she is ready to embrace the life of a typical student in Manhattan.

One of the main reasons for her departure is her wish to meet new people. Her social circle in India had become largely confined to fellow content creators, which limited her perspective. By attending college, she hopes to connect with individuals outside the influencer world who can challenge her thinking. Apurva also acknowledged that the pressure to maintain her online persona and stay relevant had become overwhelming at times.

This decision also ties back to the controversy surrounding 'India's Got Talent', where she faced backlash due to comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia about a year ago. Following that incident, she dealt with legal troubles and cancellations. However, Apurva clarified that she is not fleeing due to the controversy but has long desired to live in New York.

She mentioned that her approach to content creation will change; she plans to create content only when she feels inspired. Jokingly, she stated that the 'calm woman' is no longer present. After completing her studies, she intends to return to India to launch her D2C brand.

At just 25 years old, Apurva Makhija gained significant popularity through her participation in reality shows like 'Lock Up 2' and her candid content. She is now embarking on a new chapter in her career and life from New York, sparking discussions across social media.
