Construction of Ramgarh Barrage Under Ram Setu Project Begins

The Ram Setu Project has initiated the construction of the Ramgarh Barrage on the Kuhl River, which aims to provide water supply to residents of Ajmer, Jaipur, and Tonk. With a storage capacity of 45.30 million cubic meters, this project is set to enhance agricultural activities in the region. The construction involves significant land acquisition and the deployment of heavy machinery, with completion expected in four years. This development marks a crucial step in improving water resources in Rajasthan.

Initiation of Ramgarh Barrage Construction

The Kuhl River, which gained notoriety in 1972 due to a kidnapping incident before the state of emergency, is now witnessing the construction of a barrage. This project, named the Ramgarh Barrage, is being developed near the village of Duger.

The Rajasthan Water Grid Corporation Limited is overseeing the construction of the Ramgarh Barrage as part of the Navnera-Galwa-Isarda link project. The barrage will have a storage capacity of 45.30 million cubic meters. To facilitate this construction, land from 12 villages across five gram panchayats in the Kishanganj tehsil has been acquired.

Water from the Ramgarh Barrage will flow into the Mahalpura Barrage. This water will quench the thirst of residents in Ajmer, Jaipur, and Tonk, and will also be utilized for agricultural purposes in the region. Initially named the ERC Project, it has now been rebranded as the Ram Setu Project. A wide path has been cleared from the Kishanganj Ramgarh road to the Kuhl River by removing trees and shrubs.

The process of constructing the dam by depositing soil in the Kuhl River has commenced. This project, expected to be completed in four years, has also led to the establishment of a residential colony nearby. Heavy machinery, including JCBs and numerous dumpers, has already arrived at the site for the dam construction.
