Congress Shifts Alliances: Supports Actor-Politician Vijay's TVK in Tamil Nadu
Congress Backs TVK for Government Formation in Tamil Nadu
Chennai: In a significant political shift, the Congress party, which has historically been allied with the DMK, declared its support for actor-turned-politician Vijay's Tamil Nadu Vazhkkai Kootamaippu (TVK) on Wednesday, marking a break from its long-standing partnership with the Dravidian party.
According to Girish Chodankar, the AICC in-charge for Tamil Nadu, both the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee and the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) have resolved to fully back TVK in its efforts to establish a government, following a request from TVK leader Vijay.
Chodankar emphasized that this support is contingent upon TVK excluding any communal elements that do not uphold the Constitution of India from the alliance.
The collaboration between TVK and the Congress aims to revive the legacy of Perunthalaivar Kamaraj in Tamil Nadu, with a firm dedication to the principles of social justice championed by Thanthai Periyar and the constitutional values advocated by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
This partnership is built on mutual respect and shared responsibilities, not only for the current government formation but also for upcoming local body elections, as well as the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha contests.
