Congress President Urges PM Modi to Prioritize National Security Over Campaigns

In a recent statement, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to shift his focus from election campaigning to addressing national security concerns. Following the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in significant casualties, Kharge emphasized the need for unity and restraint in discussing sensitive matters. He called for a special session of Parliament to deliberate on the implications of Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist infrastructure in response to the attack. Kharge's remarks highlight the importance of prioritizing national interests over political agendas during critical times.

Focus on National Security

Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress party, has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to concentrate on national security issues rather than engaging in election campaigning. His comments come in light of the Prime Minister's recent public appearances following Operation Sindoor.

PM Should Prioritize National Interests

Kharge emphasized that the Prime Minister should take a step back from electoral activities and redirect his attention towards the nation's security needs.

He stated, "Without any political bias, I believe PM Modi should focus on the threats we face instead of indulging in self-promotion. Our complete support lies with the Armed Forces," as reported by a news agency.

Avoid Self-Promotion on Operation Sindoor

In a subtle critique of Modi, Kharge advised him to avoid boasting about Operation Sindoor, asserting that no one would dare to speak against the nation.

Call for Parliamentary Discussion

"It is crucial to know when to speak and what to say. Unity is essential in national matters, and we must focus on overcoming our adversaries. Leaders should refrain from commenting on national security issues until we fully understand the situation. There should be no campaigning until the delegation reports are released. PM Modi should avoid election rhetoric. The entire nation supports our armed forces. He previously stated that he had granted full authority to the military, so why is he speaking out now? We propose convening Parliament for discussions, as even Pakistan has done," the Rajya Sabha MP remarked.

Congress Seeks Special Parliamentary Session

The Congress party has been advocating for a special session of Parliament to address the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor.

Details of Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor involved targeted strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) as a response to the Pahalgam attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, including a Nepali citizen.
