Congress President Criticizes PM Modi Over Water Contamination Deaths in Indore
Congress Leader's Strong Remarks on Water Crisis
Mallikarjun Kharge, the President of the Congress party, expressed his concerns on Friday regarding the tragic deaths of several individuals in Indore due to contaminated water. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of remaining silent on this issue, despite promoting initiatives like the Jal Jeevan Mission and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
In a post on social media platform X, Kharge stated, "While Narendra Modi boasts about the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, he is silent about the deaths caused by drinking contaminated water in Indore. This is the same city that has been recognized as the cleanest in the country for eight consecutive years in the central government's cleanliness survey. It is shameful that due to the incompetence of the BJP, people here are deprived of clean water."
He further claimed that for the past eleven years, the nation has only heard grand speeches, false promises, and hollow claims. Kharge remarked, "When questions are posed to ministers, they resort to insults instead of providing answers. The arrogance of power leads them to dominate journalists, while the BJP government works to cover up its misgovernance."
Kharge reiterated his allegations of corruption and malpractice within the Jal Jeevan Mission and other government schemes, emphasizing, "It is important to remember that only 10% of the funds allocated for the Jal Jeevan Mission are used for purifying contaminated water."
He concluded by stating, "The Modi government and the BJP have failed to provide the country with clean water or fresh air, and the common people are suffering as a result." Meanwhile, Pushyamitra Bhargav, the mayor of Indore, reported that ten individuals have died due to a bout of vomiting and diarrhea linked to contaminated water in the city's Bhagirathpura area. However, local residents claim that fourteen people, including a six-month-old baby, have lost their lives due to this outbreak, a claim that has not been confirmed by health authorities.
