Congress Strategy Meeting Ahead of Monsoon Session
The Congress party is gearing up to confront the central government on various issues during the forthcoming monsoon session. A significant strategy meeting took place on Thursday at the residence of Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, located at 10 Janpath. This meeting saw the participation of several senior leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, and Chief Whip in the Rajya Sabha Jairam Ramesh.
Following the meeting, Mallikarjun Kharge shared on social media that the party intends to demand answers from the government regarding issues such as paper leaks, the decline in the education system, allegations of corruption, and the takeover of institutions. Additionally, Congress has decided to prioritize topics like the alleged embezzlement of donations for the Ram Temple and the imposition of ethanol blending on 3.5 crore vehicle owners. The party asserts that these issues will be raised in Parliament to address concerns affecting the lives and futures of the public.
The party has made it clear that it will vigorously advocate for the rights of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and minorities within Parliament. Furthermore, discussions will also cover pressing matters such as soaring inflation, failures in foreign policy, strategic blunders, and deforestation. According to sources, the meeting also included deliberations on coordinating with opposition parties and formulating a specific plan to challenge the government within the House.
The monsoon session of Parliament is expected to commence on July 20 and run until August 13. Prior to the session's start, a meeting of the opposition alliance, INDIA, is scheduled for Monday, while the central government has called for an all-party meeting on Sunday. Congress aims to hold the government accountable on these critical issues and amplify its voice on matters of public interest.
