Tribute to the Indian Army on Army Day
On the occasion of Army Day, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized that the Indian Army stands as an unwavering shield for the nation, safeguarding borders, enhancing stability during internal security challenges, and providing steadfast support during natural disasters.
Army Day, celebrated on January 15, commemorates Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, who became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949, succeeding British General Sir F.R.R. Butcher. Cariappa later attained the rank of Field Marshal.
Kharge stated, "On Indian Army Day, we pay our respects and express gratitude to our brave soldiers, veterans, and their families." He added, "The Indian Army stands as a steadfast shield, protecting our borders in the most challenging terrains, reinforcing stability during internal security issues, and offering unwavering support during natural calamities."
He further remarked, "We will always be indebted to your indomitable courage, exemplary professionalism, and the spirit of selfless sacrifice that keeps India secure."
Former Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, also praised the army's unwavering courage, valor, and supreme sacrifice. He conveyed heartfelt wishes to the soldiers, veterans, and their families on Army Day via a post on social media, stating, "We will always be indebted to our brave soldiers for their indomitable courage, valor, and supreme sacrifice. Jai Hind."
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra remarked, "Behind every uniform lies a story of sacrifice, courage, and love for the nation. On Indian Army Day, I salute our brave soldiers for their valor, resilience, and selfless service. Jai Hind."
The Congress party also shared a post on social media, honoring the soldiers for their courage, discipline, and the ultimate sacrifices they make in the line of duty. They stated, "The Indian Army stands as the strongest shield of our nation. We are immensely grateful for their unwavering service and commitment to India. Jai Hind."
