Congress Leaders Express Confidence Ahead of Assam Elections Amid BJP Concerns

As Assam approaches its elections, Congress President Gaurav Gogoi has pointed out the rising anxiety within the BJP due to the impressive turnout at Congress rallies. This comes as the party appoints senior leaders to oversee elections in various states, including Assam and Kerala, following a disappointing performance in Bihar. With elections looming in multiple states, Congress aims to reclaim its influence while the BJP faces scrutiny over its past actions. The political landscape is heating up as both parties prepare for a crucial electoral battle.

Congress Rally Attendance Sparks BJP Anxiety

As the state gears up for upcoming elections, Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi stated on Friday that the large turnout at Congress rallies is causing concern for the BJP. He emphasized that the ruling party is feeling threatened as its corruption is about to be exposed. Speaking to a news agency in Golaghat, Gogoi remarked that the BJP is anxious, observing the significant crowds at Congress events and the nature of the programs being organized. This anxiety stems from the impending revelation of their corrupt practices.

Senior Leaders Appointed for Upcoming Assembly Elections

Earlier in the day, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced the immediate appointment of senior leaders as AICC observers for the forthcoming assembly elections in various states. Bhupesh Baghel, DK Shivakumar, and Bandhu Tirkey have been assigned to Assam. Meanwhile, Sachin Pilot, KJ George, Imran Pratapgarhi, and Kanhaiya Kumar will oversee Kerala.

Strategic Appointments for Tamil Nadu and West Bengal

Additionally, Mukul Wasnik, Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Kazi Mohammad Nizamuddin have been designated for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Sudeep Roy Burman, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, and Prakash Joshi will focus on West Bengal. Elections are set to take place this year in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. Some states are facing the challenge of retaining power, while others aim to make history.

Congress Responds to Bihar Election Setback

This strategic move by Congress follows a disappointing performance in the Bihar elections, where the party contested approximately 61 seats but managed to secure only six, marking a significant electoral setback. In Bihar, the NDA's 'tsunami' swept away the opposition alliance, with the BJP emerging as the largest party with 89 seats, while the Janata Dal (United) followed with 85 seats. Other allies in the ruling coalition also recorded high victory rates.
