Congress Leaders' Visit to Mayawati's Residence

On Wednesday, several leaders from the Indian National Congress attempted to meet with Mayawati, the head of the Bahujan Samaj Party. However, they were reportedly turned away without a meeting after Mayawati declined their request. Congress leaders Rajendra Pal Gautam and MP Tanuj Punia arrived at Mayawati's residence expressing their desire to meet her. According to reports, security personnel conveyed their message to the BSP leader, but she refused to meet them.

Speculations Surrounding the Meeting

Political circles speculated that the Congress leaders wanted to discuss certain political matters with Mayawati ahead of Rahul Gandhi's proposed visit. However, the meeting ultimately did not take place. Reacting to the situation, Tanuj Punia stated that he and Rajendra Pal Gautam visited Mayawati's home to inquire about her well-being after leaving the Congress office. He clarified that a meeting of the Congress SC department had taken place at the party office, attended by Gautam and other officials.

Health Concerns and Informal Visit

During their discussions, concerns regarding Mayawati's health were raised, leading the leaders to decide on a courtesy visit since her residence was in close proximity to the Congress office. Punia mentioned that Gautam suggested visiting Mayawati due to her status as a senior leader in the community and her nearing 70 years of age. He emphasized that there was no prior appointment or phone call made; they simply informally inquired if she could spare a brief moment for a meeting.

No Political Agenda Behind the Visit

Punia further stated that they were not sent by anyone, nor was there any political message involved. As Mayawati is a prominent leader of the Dalit community, their intention was solely to check on her health. Since she was busy and unable to meet them, they decided to leave.
