Efforts to Resolve Leadership Disputes in Kerala

On Thursday, Congress legislator Ramesh Chennithala sought to address the ongoing leadership disputes within the party in Kerala. He emphasized that decisions regarding such matters should be left to the party's high command after the election results are announced.

In a conversation with a news media outlet, he stated that there is no need for any controversy regarding the Chief Minister position in Kerala. The counting of votes is set to commence on May 4, and if the party secures a majority, the Congress leadership will make all relevant decisions. Chennithala further remarked that internal party matters should not be publicly debated, adhering to the party's longstanding tradition. He expressed that there is no need for unnecessary disputes on social media or mudslinging among members.

Call for Unity Among Party Workers

Chennithala urged party workers to maintain unity, stating that he typically stays away from such activities but believes everyone should refrain from them for the betterment of the party and its members. He reiterated that supporters should not be misled by internal discussions, ensuring that both party workers and voters are not placed in a state of confusion. He affirmed that the ultimate authority to make decisions on these matters lies with the Congress high command.

Confidence in Upcoming Election Results

A week prior, on April 9, Chennithala expressed confidence in the decisive victory of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Kerala Assembly elections. He noted that the rule of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) is nearing its end, and the voters of the state are ready for political change. Speaking in Alappuzha, he conveyed optimism about a significant win in the assembly elections, asserting that the UDF is fully confident of securing a majority and forming the next government in Kerala. He remarked that the public is tired of the LDF and is prepared for a new beginning, with leadership decisions to be made by the Congress high command.
