UDF Set to Surpass 100 Seats in Kerala Elections

On Thursday, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal expressed confidence that the United Democratic Front (UDF) would exceed the 100-seat mark in the Kerala Assembly elections. Voting is currently underway. He noted that the public has grown weary of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's leadership and is calling for change. Speaking to a news outlet, the senior Congress figure labeled Vijayan as anti-people and arrogant. He also accused the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government of shielding those involved in the Sabarimala gold theft case.

Venugopal stated, 'We will achieve a significant victory in this election. We will surpass the 100-seat threshold. Most people in the state believe this. They are in favor of change. After ten years under Pinarayi Vijayan's rule, they are fed up. The question before the voters is whether this anti-people, arrogant chief minister should remain in power for another five years. The response we are receiving is a resounding no.'

He further remarked, 'You can see that the gold of Lord Ayyappa has been stolen. This government is attempting to protect the criminals involved in the theft. They are trying to suppress this issue.' Venugopal made these comments after casting his vote at a polling station in Ambalapuzha. Voting for this crucial electoral contest began at 7 AM on Thursday in Assam, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. The Election Commission has made all necessary arrangements to ensure fair and smooth voting. Voters are seen queuing outside polling stations to cast their ballots in this single-phase assembly election.

In this phase, voting will take place for 126 seats in Assam, 140 in Kerala, and 30 in Puducherry. Elections in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for April 23, while West Bengal will vote on April 23 and 29. The counting of votes will occur on May 4. Over 2.6 million voters will determine the fate of 883 candidates across 140 constituencies in Kerala. Among the registered 26,953,644 voters in the state, 13,827,319 are women, while the number of male voters stands at 13,126,048.
