Congress Leader Criticizes Government Accountability on Terror Attacks
Congress Leader's Critique on Terrorism Accountability
On Thursday, Congress leader Karti P. Chidambaram targeted the central government, stating that there has been no accountability established for the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam and Chandni Chowk, which resulted in numerous fatalities.
Chidambaram referenced the tragic incident on April 22 in Pahalgam, where 26 individuals, primarily tourists, lost their lives, as well as the explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi on November 10 that claimed 15 lives.
During a discussion in the Lok Sabha regarding the Health Security and National Security Cess Bill, 2025, Chidambaram labeled the proposed legislation as "anti-union and anti-business." He criticized the government for failing to clarify how the funds would be utilized and the expected revenue from the cess.
He remarked, "This government is now imposing a cess to enhance health security and national security. Perhaps the failures in Pahalgam and Chandni Chowk prompted them to believe that they need more resources to prevent such terrorist attacks."
