Congress Launches Nationwide Campaign to Address Student Issues
Nationwide Initiative 'Students' Echo' Launched by Congress
On Thursday, the Congress party initiated a 40-day nationwide campaign titled 'Students' Echo'. The primary aim of this initiative is to highlight issues affecting students, including exam paper leaks, delays in recruitment, and concerns regarding the education system. This campaign is spearheaded by the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and will involve outreach programs in educational institutions, town hall meetings, discussions with the public, and distribution of pamphlets. According to NSUI leaders, the campaign was launched simultaneously in 28 locations across the country.
Concerns Raised Over Systemic Failures
During a press conference, Gaurav Gogoi, the Assam Congress president and MP, pointed out the recurring issues with examinations as evidence of significant institutional failures, stating that students have lost faith in the system. He questioned who would take responsibility for the shattered dreams of countless students. Gogoi emphasized that if students are facing injustice and their parents are burdened financially, someone must be held accountable.
Systemic Issues Highlighted by Repeated Exam Scandals
Referring to the ongoing controversies surrounding paper leaks, Gogoi noted that students are beginning to view these incidents not as isolated mistakes but as indicative of systemic flaws. He remarked that when such issues recur annually, it fosters a belief among students that it cannot be attributed to the failure of a single individual but rather reflects a broader systemic failure. He also referenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that this issue signifies a major crisis within India's education system.
Campaign to Address Various Educational Challenges
The NSUI stated that this campaign aims to reach students affected by exams like NEET, JEE, and SSC, as well as those facing challenges in school education. The organization has introduced a QR code registration system and a missed call facility to enable students to register complaints and share their concerns.
