Congress Intensifies Campaign Against Voter List Irregularities Ahead of November Rally

As the Congress party gears up for a significant rally on November 1, it is ramping up efforts to address alleged irregularities in the voter list. Senior leaders have announced plans for nationwide marches and awareness campaigns to ensure all eligible voters are registered by December. The rally aims to unite the opposition against perceived threats to democracy, while the ruling party raises concerns about the timing of the event. Political tensions are escalating as both sides prepare for a showdown, with accusations flying regarding the motivations behind the rally and its implications for the upcoming elections.

Congress Prepares for Major Rally

In New Delhi, opposition parties are actively protesting against alleged discrepancies in the voter list. In this context, the Congress party has accelerated its preparations for a significant rally scheduled for November 1. Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Bharat Singh Solanki announced on Saturday that the party will conduct marches across the nation, distribute pamphlets door-to-door, and hold awareness meetings to ensure that all eligible citizens are registered in the voter list by the end of December.

Allegations of Voter List Manipulation

Solanki made serious allegations, claiming that millions of voters' names have been removed from the lists nationwide, leading to significant irregularities that prevent ordinary citizens from exercising their voting rights. He also clarified that special campaigns will be launched at the booth level to achieve this goal.

Massive Rally Against 'Vote Theft'

On November 1, the 'India' coalition will host a large rally at Delhi's historic Ramlila Maidan to protest against 'vote theft.' The Congress party believes that this rally will send a strong message across the country that the opposition is united and determined to oust those who undermine democracy. However, the ruling party has raised serious concerns regarding the timing of this event.

Congress Reviews Rally Preparations

Meanwhile, the Congress held a high-level meeting at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee office to thoroughly review the rally preparations, committing to make it a historic event. The party has adopted the slogan 'Save Votes, Save the Country' for this protest.

Political Tensions Rise Over Rally Timing

On another front, political rhetoric has intensified regarding a letter from traders to Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, warning that such a large rally during the busy Diwali season could result in an economic loss of approximately ₹10,000 crores.

In response, Congress leader Rashid Alvi labeled this as a calculated ploy by the ruling party, suggesting that they orchestrate such letters from their own supporters. He questioned why local law enforcement was not informed if there were genuine concerns from traders and why the police granted formal permission for the event. Alvi asserted that the rally was planned in compliance with all regulations and claimed that the ruling party is fearful of the large crowds expected to attend.

Controversy Over Rally Date

Additionally, BJP MP Satnam Singh Sandhu has strongly objected to the choice of November 1 for the rally. He criticized the Congress for being as insensitive now as it was during the 1984 Sikh massacre, as this date marks a dark chapter in Sikh history. Sandhu stated that thousands of innocent Sikhs were killed during that period, their homes looted, and families targeted. He accused the Congress party of denying justice to the victims' families for decades, asserting that on this day, the Sikh community remembers their deceased loved ones in prayer. He claimed that the Congress deliberately chose this date to exploit the situation for political gain and to suppress the sentiments of the Sikh community.
