Deepak Sharma, a prominent leader from the Congress party, has remarked that although the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has maintained its hold over the Mandi Municipal Corporation, the election outcomes reveal a notable increase in support for Congress throughout the city. This trend signifies a growing trust in the Congress-led state government's policies and governance.

Following the announcement of the election results, Sharma highlighted that a comparison between the 2026 Municipal Corporation election and the 2022 Assembly election indicates a marked rise in Congress votes across various wards in Mandi.

He stated, “Even though the BJP has won a majority of seats, the broader political message from these elections is that Congress has significantly bolstered its voter base in Mandi. The citizens are increasingly placing their trust in the development-focused policies, welfare programs, and transparent governance under Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.”

Sharma noted that wards like Khaliar, Paddal, Nela, Sanyard, Samkhetar, and Thanehra experienced a significant uptick in Congress votes compared to earlier elections.

He emphasized, “This growth is not just a numerical success; it signifies the rising acceptance of Congress among urban voters, indicating that our policies and outreach initiatives are resonating well with the populace.”

Sharma acknowledged that municipal elections are often influenced by narrow margins and local dynamics, yet the overall voting trends suggest that Congress has made considerable strides in regions where it previously encountered electoral hurdles.

He concluded, “The increase in our vote share across numerous wards is a promising political development and lays a strong foundation for the future. The results indicate that the public appreciates the state government's efforts in fostering development, enhancing public services, and addressing the needs of ordinary citizens.”
