Congress Enhances Grassroots Engagement Ahead of Assam Elections

The Congress party is actively enhancing its grassroots outreach in Cachar district as part of its preparations for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. Led by senior MP Pradyut Bordoloi, the initiative, titled 'Raijor Podulit, Raijor Congress', aims to reconnect with the community and assess local conditions. Five teams of Congress leaders are engaging with various groups, including the Rongmei Naga community and ASHA workers, to gather feedback for a people's manifesto. Bordoloi emphasizes that this effort is focused on listening to citizens' concerns, not on ticket distribution. Additionally, the party is preparing a charge sheet against the BJP, highlighting governance failures.

Strengthening Community Ties in Cachar District

Silchar, Dec 22: The Congress party is intensifying its grassroots outreach initiative, "Raijor Podulit, Raijor Congress", in Cachar district as it gears up for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections in 2026.

Pradyut Bordoloi, a senior Congress MP and head of the outreach committee, has been actively engaging with the community in southern Assam for the last two days. He stated that the goal is to reconnect with the populace while gaining an accurate understanding of the local conditions throughout the state.

“The outreach is being executed by five teams led by prominent Congress figures, including Gaurav Gogoi, Debabrata Saikia, Rakibul Hussain, and Ripun Borah. Each team, consisting of senior leaders and enthusiastic party members, has been assigned specific areas to cover. Together, they aim to reach all 35 districts in Assam,” Bordoloi explained.

He noted that while the teams are spread across various regions and engaging with different communities, his own discussions in the Barak Valley have involved meetings with the Rongmei Naga community, Hindu Bengali groups, business associations, cooperative societies, and ASHA workers.

“We are meticulously documenting their feedback, which will be digitally compiled to assist in creating a people's manifesto for the 2026 Assembly elections,” Bordoloi added.

He clarified that the purpose of this initiative is not related to ticket allocation or internal party negotiations. “This effort is purely focused on understanding the aspirations and concerns of the people,” he emphasized, mentioning that “aspiration boxes” are being distributed to gather written feedback from citizens directly.

Bordoloi also indicated that the Congress is preparing a comprehensive charge sheet against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), detailing alleged governance shortcomings and unmet promises.
