Chirang, April 26: On Saturday, a team from the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) visited the strong room located at Upendra Nath Brahma College in Chirang district to evaluate the security measures for the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) following the elections.
The delegation was spearheaded by Mehdi Alam Bora, the APCC vice-president and senior spokesperson. He emphasized the party's commitment to the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) alongside the rest of Assam, expressing optimism about forming the next state government.
Bora mentioned that the party has assigned leaders to inspect strong rooms throughout the BTR districts to monitor the post-poll situation.
“We visited Kokrajhar yesterday and today we are in Chirang. Our next stops will be Baksa and Tamulpur for further evaluations,” he stated.
He reiterated the seriousness with which the Congress party is approaching this Assembly election, ensuring that all efforts are maximized.
“We are treating this Assam Assembly election with the utmost seriousness to ensure that no effort is wasted. Congress workers in BTAD have also made significant contributions in the recent elections,” he noted.
Bora expressed confidence in the party's prospects across the state, stating that they anticipate winning five seats in the Bodoland Territorial Region.
“We believe we will form the government this time, as we have observed promising chances throughout Assam. Hence, we are hopeful of securing five seats in BTR,” he added.
The Congress delegation comprised APCC Tribal Cell president Sohen Brahma, secretaries Dr. Bhawana Nath and Umesh Deka, along with candidates Motilal Narzary from Sidli-Chirang and Rajat Kanti Saha from Bijni, along with various leaders from the Chirang District Congress Committee.
The team assessed the security protocols in place for the EVMs stored at Upendra Nath Brahma College in Kajalgaon, the district headquarters of Chirang, following the recently concluded Assam Assembly elections.
