Congress Accuses Government of Insensitivity

On Monday, the Congress party expressed that the administration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is indifferent and apathetic to the serious concerns of millions of students and youth, similar to its treatment of farmers.

Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh made this assertion in a post on social media, claiming that exactly a year ago, former Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar was compelled to resign after three years of his five-year term.

Ramesh alleged that Prime Minister Modi had initially celebrated Dhankhar's appointment, but due to the latter's repeated expressions of distress regarding the plight of farmers and the government's shocking insensitivity towards them, he was forced to resign unexpectedly.

The Congress leader emphasized that this same level of insensitivity and neglect is now evident in the serious issues faced by millions of students and young people.

Ramesh pointed out that Dhankhar did not receive a formal farewell from the members of the Rajya Sabha. During the monsoon session of Parliament last year, on July 21, the then Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman resigned from his position with immediate effect, citing health reasons and medical advice in his resignation letter to President Droupadi Murmu.
