Congress Criticizes BJP Leaders Over Development Issues in Himachal Pradesh

In a recent media briefing, Congress spokesperson Kaushal Moongta criticized BJP leaders for their personal attacks on Education Minister Rohit Thakur and highlighted the neglect of development issues in Himachal Pradesh. He pointed out the failures of the previous BJP government in supporting horticulturists and questioned their commitment to local infrastructure projects. Moongta emphasized the significant progress made under the current Congress government and called for a focus on the needs of the Jubbal-Kotkhai-Nawar constituency. The Congress leader's remarks come in light of recent local body election results, where BJP candidates faced setbacks. This article delves into the ongoing political discourse in the region.

Congress Spokesperson Calls Out BJP Leaders

In a recent press conference, Kaushal Moongta, a spokesperson for the Himachal Pradesh Congress and former Zila Parishad member, expressed strong disapproval of BJP leaders Suresh Bhardwaj, Suresh Kashyap, and ex-Chief Minister Jairam Thakur. He urged them to refrain from personal attacks on Education Minister Rohit Thakur and instead focus on their party's performance.

Moongta emphasized that the residents of Jubbal-Kotkhai-Nawar are well-informed about the political landscape and will prioritize developmental issues over political maneuvering. He welcomed Jairam Thakur and Suresh Kashyap to the constituency but questioned the BJP's decision to exclude Chetan Bragta from the party for six years.

He accused the BJP government of neglecting horticulturists by eliminating subsidies for fungicides and pesticides, and criticized the sale of the Guma carton factory at a minimal price. Moongta pointed out that despite raising the Universal Carton scheme, the BJP failed to implement it during their governance. In contrast, he praised the Congress government for addressing this long-standing demand through the efforts of Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi and Education Minister Rohit Thakur.

Moongta highlighted the advancements in education under Rohit Thakur's leadership, asserting that the previous BJP administration overlooked development in Jubbal-Kotkhai, having sanctioned only five roads in five years, while the current Congress government has approved over 200 roads.

He criticized MP Suresh Kashyap for claiming credit for PMGSY roads, suggesting that if his influence were truly effective, his constituency would have seen greater benefits from the initiative.

Moongta also raised issues regarding the Theog-Hatkoti road project, alleging that political factors have delayed its construction, adversely affecting local residents. He called on BJP leaders to clarify their involvement in this situation.

In his remarks about former Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Moongta noted that his term was more notorious for controversies over costly flower pots than for any educational advancements. He urged BJP leaders to evaluate their own performance and spending before criticizing the current government's achievements.

Referencing the recent local body elections, Moongta claimed that the BJP faced a significant defeat in the area, failing to win any Zila Parishad seats, while candidates supported by Congress excelled in BDC and Panchayat elections.

He concluded by stating that the residents of Jubbal-Kotkhai are demanding answers regarding development, horticultural welfare, and essential infrastructure, urging BJP leaders to concentrate on these matters instead of engaging in political attacks against Congress officials.
